ias fuld hall

Constructed in 1939, Fuld Hall serves as the main administrative building and library for the Institute for Advanced Study. The 25,000 square foot building was designed by Jens Frederick Larson in the popular Colonial Revival style that he utilized in numerous academic institutions in the early 20th century. It has provided office space for many IAS staff including Albert Einstein, who maintained an office there from the time the building was completed until his death in 1952. 

Ford 3 recently completed renovations to the main lobby and reception office which also included new flooring and lighting in the corridors. Other projects in the building include a lounge and seminar space for the School of Historical Studies and a Schematic Design study to investigate bringing air conditioning into the building while preserving the historic integrity of important spaces.
