Adaptive Re-use, Renovations, and Alterations

Center for arts & education

The Princeton Center for Arts and Education is a new beginning for the 47 acre, 100 year old Collegiate Gothic campus of St. Joseph's Seminary in Plainsboro, New Jersey. Ford 3 Architects is in the first phase of the adaptive re-use of the former seminary campus to create a multi-dimensional arts and education campus. The coalition of three private cultural and educational day schools, The American Boychoir School, French American School of Princeton and The Wilberforce School, will occupy the seven building, 160,000 SF campus, to create a collaborative, cohesive, and enriching educational environment.

The first phase consists of renovations and additions to the campus to meet accessibility and code requirements, while also modernizing and re-configuring the interiors. A new emphasis on the performance spaces will also improve the lighting, acoustics, and seating in the gymnasium and chapel. Site improvements, such as a new traffic pattern and the addition of sports facilities, will also support the campus's new purpose.
