Additions, Renovations
the colonial club
Back in the 1950s when Jerry Ford was a member of Colonial Club, an eating club at Princeton, the joke on the campus was that Colonial was an imposing facade only one room deep! That was when the dining room only had to feed fifty young men at a sitting. Fifty some years after a welcome switch to coeducation, the club tries to feed about 200 a meal.
Two factors dictated the direction of expansion: first, the backside of the Club was not originally meant for public viewing and second the University campus took over the land behind with major academic expansion. Many club members found it convenient to use the Club's back door on the way to and from classes so we decided to combine the necessary addition for food preparation to the rear with an entrance that the members could approach with pride.
