Sustainable Design, New Construction, Renovations and Alterations

Private Nursing Facility Master Plan

A master plan was designed to resolve issues of locating new buildings, revise circulation, and plan for future growth while maintaining and preserving the bucolic site.

North Wing Addition: The new building is an addition to an existing nursing building designed by Jerry Ford in the mid seventies adding two 5-room suites. The addition stylistically bridges between the 1970's institutional building that it is attaching to and the cottage setting that is the recent model for nursing on the campus. Sustainable Features: High performance geothermal heating and cooling, high performance insulation, solar hot water, energy star appliances, renewable and recycled building materials, high interior environmental air quality.

East Cottages: Two new stand-alone, 5 guest room nursing residences. Each building has separate guestrooms with common living room, dining room, kitchen, and sunroom spaces. Sustainable Features: High performance geothermal heating and cooling, green roof, high performance insulation, energy star appliances, renewable and recycled building materials, high interior environmental air quality.

Solar Array: 4.5 acres of solar array to supply fifty percent of the campus power requirements. Site Storm Water Management: Bio Retention basin to control and treat site storm water runoff.
