New Hope, PA

Additions, Alterations & Renovations

new hope veterinary hospital

Originally built as a residence, the building that housed the New Hope Veterinary Hospital remained largely unaltered from its original residential use. The building contained outdated facilities, lack of usable space to expand/grow the business and had no inviting street presence. The client wanted to expand and update the building while remaining open and fully functioning during the entire process.

The hospital was designed to maximize functionality and efficiency for an expanded practice while maintaining the smallest footprint possible. Ford 3 worked closely with Dr. Marcus to create a plan with the necessary spatial adjacencies to allow the hospital to function effectively, something not previously provided in the existing building.

In order to accommodate the client, the project was designed to be constructed in two phases. Phase one consisted of a 1,500 sf addition to the existing 2,900 sf building. This allowed the business to continue to function in the existing building during construction. Phase 2 consisted of the demolition of the existing building and the reconstruction of a new 2,900 sf structure on the existing foundation.
