Design Drivers

Ford 3 was hired to design a new building envelope that not only corrects the water infiltration problems but better fits with the design aesthetic of the entire campus.  While correcting the functional and aesthetic problems, Tenacre directed Ford 3 to redesign the Spiritual Resource Library to be more flexible for current and future uses.  

Solution

A new façade was designed incorporating robust materials and proper waterproofing to eliminate all water penetration issues.  The original massing of the building was maintained and accentuated through the use of different siding materials.  A more flexible library space was designed within the existing building footprint with cathedral ceilings to give importance to the space.
