An existing house on 121 Broadmead in Princeton was part of a housing development by Moses Taylor Pyne that was deeded to Princeton University in 1922 for sale to faculty.  The half-timbered Tudor house which has been designed along with its neighbors by Ralph Gildersleeve, had suffered from neglect over the years so the University decided to tear it down.  Ford 3 was asked to replace the house with a building that blended well with its neighbors.  A floor plan was developed that anticipated the unique family and community needs of a University professor.  The architectural language of the adjacent houses was studied and incorporated in this house.  Window placement, roof pitch, half timber details and complexity of forms were used to make this new house blend with the existing houses.
