Lake Side Doylestown

whole house reimaginging, additions, pool house

Perched on the edge of Lake Galena in Doylestown, PA, this property instantly captivated a family of five, but the existing expanded ranch house didn’t fit the way they lived. The lodge-style structure offered dramatic double-height living spaces, yet the layout was awkward: small children’s bedrooms clustered on the first floor and a sprawling primary suite isolated on the second. A large standalone garage sat disconnected from the main house, and the overall character felt out of sync with the agricultural architecture that defines Bucks County.

The family imagined something very different: a home where all the bedrooms could be together, a pool that embraced the landscape, and architecture that felt rooted in local farm and field traditions. Ford 3 partnered closely with them to bring that vision to life transforming the detached garage into a pool house with office space, navigating zoning hurdles to allow the new pool, and designing thoughtful alterations and additions to the main house. The result is a property that now aligns with the family’s daily rhythms while echoing the timeless aesthetic of Bucks County’s rural architecture.
